Volunteer Opportunities

Working Together for the Future

Staff In-Store Product Sampling Table

  • Place: In Store
  • Time Commitment: 1.5 hours; lunch time or 4:30-6:00 pm window, at frequency you choose
  • Task: Stand at sample table and offer customers product sample & information (all needed materials provided –table, product, flyers)
  • Profile: Willingness to talk to customers about product you are offering as a sample

New Owner Welcome Volunteer

  • Place: anywhere with access to e-mail
  • Time Commitment: 1.5-3 hours per month, depending on number of new ownerships
  • Task: Send friendly e-mail welcome new owners, based on a template, along with information about upcoming cooperative events and opportunities
  • Profile: Anyone willing to personalize a welcome message to new owners

Shelf Reader

  • Place: In Store
  • Time Commitment: 1.5 hours, any time at frequency you wish
  • Task: Scan shelves for products that will go out of date within a short time frame (1 month or less), place items in cart or write product information on a list so that store staff can discount them for quick sale
  • Profile: Willingness to work independently and methodically and to keep products tidy as you read their dates

Photographer (no need to be a professional or have professional equipment)

  • Place: In Store
  • Time Commitment: 1-1.5 hours per session, around your schedule
  • Task: Taking photos for Amanda for social media and providing her with photos for new products, flash sales, educational features, upcoming events.
  • Profile: Familiarity with digital camera (smart phone or other) and file sharing.


  • Place: All over or wherever you already go!
  • Time Commitment: 1-3 hours, depending on event
  • Task: Attend Spartanburg Downtown Association meetings and/or other community events at which HCC can have a free spot; share catering & ownership brochures and talk about what co-ops offer the community, shoppers, and area producers
  • Profile: Willingness to talk to people and ability to share message about store
